Setting up Emergency SOS on Android and iOS

It’s essential always to be alert because many criminals lurk around with bad intentions. If you have a smartphone that works properly, you can call for help immediately or send an emergency alert.

When you press designated buttons on a smartphone, the emergency SOS feature automatically sends a distress signal or calls authorities. Even when you’re not looking, they can be triggered easily.

Mobile operating systems, such as iOS and Android, have features like these, and millions of people, including Filipinos, use them daily.

This post will show you how to set up such features. Hopefully, you won’t need them in the future. Let’s get started.

Setting up Android Emergency SOS

Different layouts and interfaces are available for Android phones from other brands, and you may be aware of this fact. It is important to note that enabling the Emergency SOS features on Android devices differs, but we will provide you with a quick guide to help you locate them.

It is best to open the Settings menu on your device by searching for it in the menu bar.first 5 1

A search icon should be at the top of the settings menu so you can search for anything. You would need to use that and look for the word “Emergency” or the word “Emergency SOS.”

Different smartphone brands may call this feature by other names, and you can call it “Emergency SOS,” “Emergency Rescue,” etc., depending on your needs. The sound of each of them should, however, be similar.

When you enter the Emergency SOS setup menu, you should be able to configure the function once you are in. Several settings can be set within the app, such as the number you want it to call (911, a family member, a friend, etc. ), how you want it to be triggered (for example, by pressing the power button five times), loudness of the alarm, etc.

It should be possible for you to trigger the emergency SOS using the settings you have chosen.

Setting up iPhone Emergency SOS

With iPhones, setting up a contact for an emergency SOS call is easy. Thanks to Apple! Here are some steps you can take to do that.

Make sure you are on the Settings page.

You can find the “Emergency SOS” by scrolling down or searching it at the search box similar to the photo shown b elow.

Make sure that the Emergency SOS feature is enabled.

thrice

By enabling Call with Hold, you can hold down the home or power button and the volume control up or down until the SOS slider appears when you simultaneously press and hold these buttons. As an alternative to pressing them longer, you can hold them down for a more extended period until the countdown starts. At this point, the system will automatically call for emergency assistance.

It is possible to activate this function by pressing the lock/power button rapidly five times in a row, which will automatically call emergency services after the countdown expires.

You can set up emergency contacts in the Health app by turning this on. The Apple Health app will launch, and you can set an emergency contact, which the responders can use to contact you in an emergency.

It will start playing a countdown sound a few seconds before your device will call the police to report a crime. To remain discreet from criminals, you can turn this feature off if you want to do so.

In the future, when the Emergency SOS is triggered, it will automatically dial 911, which is the national emergency number for the Philippines when an emergency occurs.

Are 911 services available in the Philippines?Philippine National Police on Twitter: "Any information may be reported thru the nationwide emergency hotline 911 for immediate police assistance. https://t.co/QQVynWsXxA" / Twitter

Yes, of course. As of August 2016, the 911 emergency hotline has replaced Patrol 117 as the primary emergency number. The Emergency 911 National Office is responsible for managing the service for emergency telephone numbers.

Can you cancel the SOS for an emergency?

Yes, I agree. You can cancel the emergency SOS a few seconds before it goes out, depending on your phone. After the limited period given, the call will not be compensated for safety reasons.

Can you change the Emergency SOS number?

Yes, but only for a limited number of Android devices. As part of the PH’s emergency response plan, you have the option of calling 911, which is the PH’s national emergency number, or a family member or friend.

I am sorry to say that this option is not available to iOS users, as it will only automatically call 911 when this option is selected.

As you are setting up the emergency SOS alert feature on your Android or iOS device, there are several things that you need to be aware of.
