Samsung Unpacked event literally unpacked four phones for the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S series. One of the newest and cheapest entries to the Galaxy S10 series is the Galaxy S10e — looking like a direct competitor to the iPhone Xr of last year. At Php39,990, here’s what you’re getting.
The Samsung Galaxy S10e comes in as the smallest of the bunch at 5.8-inch FHD+ with the new Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display marred by a pinhole camera (more on that in a bit). In an unlikely Samsung manner, the value-wise Galaxy S10e ditches curved sides for a flat panel along with thin but noticeable bezels on all four sides. On the good side (wink), you can get the S10e in White, Green, Black, Blue, and Yellow colors.
Performance-wise, it makes use of the Snapdragon 855 (particularly for the Chinese and Western market) and the Exynos 9820 Octa for EMEA region. That, of course, can be paired with 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB with microSD slot support of up to 512GB.
As for the cameras, Samsung dialed back with the numbers for the S10e as it comes with three cameras in total – a dual 12MP (wide angle) + 16MP (ultra wide) and a 10MP pinhole selfie camera. The selfie camera can shoot up to 4K @ 30fps while the main camera supports up to 4K @ 60fps along with its super slow motion feature. With the existence of a pinhole, the battery status area slightly moved over to the left side and the sensor’s rim lights up when using the selfie cam.
While rumors suggest that Samsung will be ditching the headphone jack, fortunately, it stays across the S10 lineup along with Dolby Atmos sound and AKG earphones tuning. In terms of battery, you’re looking at 3100mAh to use but with fast wireless and wired charging at 15W. Not to mention the reverse wireless charging at 9W 4.5W.
The Galaxy S10e makes use of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner to keep the price to a minimum instead of the ultrasonic on-display fingerprint scanner. But perhaps the best thing about this type of changes is the fact that you can assign the Bixby button to open any app of your choice. NEAT! As for the rest of the features, you’re still getting an HDR10 compliant display, Always-on Display, IP68 rating, BT 5.0, and the latest Wi-Fi 6 (ax).
At the moment, Samsung stores are accepting pre-orders until March 3 with the Galaxy S10e (128GB) priced at Php39,990. You’ll also get freebies when you pre-order including the Galaxy Buds or a voucher worth Php3,500 and Free Nanofixit screen insurance. Installment via Credit Cards at 0% interest is offered as well.
