In Austin, Texas, AMD introduces the Ryzen 7000 series processors, the first of its next-generation processors. This is AMD’s first desktop processor that utilizes TSMC’s 5nm process and AMD’s next-generation Zen 4 cores. AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series marks a giant leap for AMD. They announced the Ryzen 7000 series processors for laptops after the Ryzen 7000 series processors used 4nm technology.
One of the leading processors in the Ryzen 7000 series is the 7950X, which has 16 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.7GHz, and a thermal design power of 170W. With Shadow of the Tomb Raider, AMD claims 35% better gaming performance than the previous-generation 5950X and 48% better creator performance with V-Ray Render. A Ryzen 9 7950X offers 47% more performance-per-watt than Intel’s Core i9-12900K.
The Ryzen 7000 series performs very well, according to AMD. Their entry-level Ryzen 5 7600X, six cores, twelve threads, and a maximum boost clock of 5.1GHz, can beat the Core i9-12900K on GeekBench Single-Core.
In showing how AMD’s 5nm-based Zen 4 architecture sets a new standard for desktop performance, AMD says the Ryzen 5 7600X offers 5% better gaming performance than the Core i9-12900K.
Besides supporting DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 SSDs, AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series uses AMD’s new AM5 socket motherboards, and the Ryzen 9 7950X comes with up to 80MB of L2+L3 cache.
Starting price for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series is $299 (₱16,900) for the Ryzen 5 7600X. Approximately $399 (₱22,400) will be the suggested retail price for the Ryzen 7 7700X, while $549 (₱30,900) will be the suggested retail price for the Ryzen 9 7900X. The top-end Ryzen 9 7950X is $699 (₱39,400). September 27 is the expected release date for all processors.
