Although ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 took the spotlight, it’s the ROG Zephyrus M15, S15, and S17 that are going to be the most interesting gaming laptops to consumers. By taking away the second screen that’s barely needed in games, ASUS’ gaming laptop trinity is expected to come with longer battery life and less expensive price tags. All three are expected to arrive around the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2020, with price tags yet to be revealed.
Expected to be the least expensive of the three, Zephyrus M15 remains portable yet powerful with its 18.9mm chassis. Available in Brushed Black and Prism Gray/Black, this laptop introduces reinforced honeycomb structure and prismatic design for durability and style. The 15.6″ screen comes in either 4K or 1080p resolution featuring IPS-level panel. Made for creators, the 4K panel supports 100% Adobe RGB and is Pantone validated. As for the 1080p panel, the entry-level bundles a 144Hz screen while the mid-level gets you 240Hz refresh with 3ms response time, Pantone certification, and 100% sRGB. And yes, Zephyrus M15 comes with Wi-Fi 6 already. Specs feature either Intel® Core™ i7-10875H or Intel® Core™ i7-10750H and up to Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB 90W GPU. Furthermore, RAM goes up to 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 and dual M.2 NVMe slots or 1TB SSD with RAID 0 support.
The ROG Zephyrus S15 pretty much sports the same body and specs as the M15. However, the CPU can be paired with up to RTX 2080 Super. In exchange for that is a single-option display. The screen features 15.6″ non-glare IPS-level panel with FHD resolution, 300Hz, 3ms response time, 100% sRGB, Pantone certification, and G-Sync support. All that while having a 2.0kg weight and 18.9mm thinness.
Much like the S15, the Zephyrus S17 is basically a bigger version of that. Aside from the wider chassis, the display is now a 17.3″ panel. Available in two configurations, the FHD IPS-level screen supports 300Hz, 3ms response time, 100% sRGB, and Pantone certification. Although you lose the G-sync support, there’s a 144Hz panel that makes it a bit easier for the pocket. Zephyrus S17 is slightly heavier at 2.6kg, however, it’s the thinnest out of the three at 1.87cm. There’s no difference in specification except for the lack of RAID support.
