Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 480 chipset (8nm architecture) that offers a faster processor and more capable graphics. It’s an SoC targeted at budget midrange devices priced at P10K to P15k pesos while offering up to 64MP camera module support and 90Hz display.
The Snapdragon 480’s main selling feature is the 5G connectivity support that will add up 2.5Gbps download speed thru its sub-6 + mmWave, thanks to the Snapdragon X51 modem. Other features are comparable to the Snapdragon 675, especially on the CPU configuration.

The Snapdragon 480 will be available to select smartphone brands by this quarter with Motorola (MOTO Ibiza) and Xiaomi launching their first midrange devices next month.
Mediatek is also offering the same 5G experience to its upcoming chipsets though we are yet to see which smartphone OEM will get it first.
