PSA Eyes Rollout of Printable Version of National IDs

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) distributed the official format and design of the printed ePhilID (printable National ID) on Wednesday. The PSA says again that the printed ePhilID “shall be honored and accepted as a government-issued ID document.”

In a public advisory, PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa told the public how to use and accept different kinds of digital IDs from the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as proof of identity and age.

There are three ways to get a PhilSys digital ID:

  • as a printed ePhilID
  • as a file, you can download
  • as a copy made with their mobile app.

PSA also showed the official design and layout of the printed ePhilID, which has an extensive QR code, the person’s photo, and the PhiSys Card Number (PCN) below the image. It also has basic information about the person’s age, gender, and place of birth.

The sample also shows the date the ePhilID was made and a few reminders.

PSA says it uses public-private key cryptography to ensure that the information it holds can’t be changed.

PhilSys ID Dispute

Currently, when you try to book an appointment online through the PSA website, it doesn’t appear that you can claim an ePhilID or any other digital ID related to PhilSys.
