Pokemon Go gets a new feature in the upcoming update, the Buddy Pokemon. This adds personalization while getting rewards such as unique candies for your selected Buddy Pokemon.
The update for Pokemon Go will be announced once available and it will be on a roll-out basis. Niantic also encourages Trainers to follow their channels to get the updates fast.
Aside from the new features, it seems Niantic is serious about improving the game after a sharp decline in the number of users since the game was launched.
