Oldest Person In The World Celebrated Her 117th Birthday

The oldest person in the world celebrated her natal a day before her 117th birthday. And Misao Okawa said on Wednesday that 117 years doesn’t seem like such a long time.

Osaka government official Takehiro Ogura gave her a bouquet of flowers and asked how she felt about living for 117 years, of which she answered, “It seemed rather short.” Misao looked lovely in a pink kimono adorned with cherry blossom prints during the celebration, her hair was also decorated with a pink daisy pin.

The Guinness World Records in 2013 recognized Misao as the oldest person in the world still alive. She said she was ‘very happy’ to be that age. Though in recent months, Okawa seemed to have slowed down and is having trouble in hearing, but the 117 year-old woman still eats well and is in good health.

Okawa who is a daughter of a kimono maker was born on March 5, 1898. She got married to her husband, Yukio in 1919 and were blessed with three children – two daughters and a son. Her husband died in 1931. And now Misao Okawa has four-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
