MSMEs to Get Online Shopping Platform Through DICT

DICT is looking to revitalize the country’s business sector by developing its shopping platform to assist enterprises shifting online and thriving in the face of ramifications resulting from the closure of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) businesses.

According to DICT secretary John Ivan Uy, the proposed e-commerce platform will consist of a comprehensive “ecosystem,” including raw material sourcing, electronic payment systems, and digital marketing on a global scale.

Philippine News Agency reports that Uy claims the project will help businesses move from traditional retail to e-commerce because of its “integrated” nature.

DICT and DTI are collaborating on the project, similar to Alibaba and Shopee’s approach.

Independent sellers would otherwise have to establish their websites when they transition online. However, DICT brings GOOD NEWS for the sellers as the project simplifies the process by merely allowing interested sellers to “register and be onboarded.”

According to the secretary, the project is an essential solution to the global health crisis’ negative impacts.
