During the 2nd quarter of the year, most smartphone companies made small strides in growth. Even though they are the only company that suffered a negative growth impact during the timeframe, realme rose to first place. As a result of a record sales period, a decline of 21% may not necessarily be attributed to a dramatic reduction in performance.

In a crowded market, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Samsung are somehow remaining strong and finding growth opportunities. It is interesting to note the jump made by Transsion in the Philippines, the parent company of Infinix, TECNO, and Itel. Considering the global smartphone shipment numbers we’ll examine later, the group of brands has snagged an impressive 202% annual growth rate. These brands provide value offerings in the entry-level and midrange that have contributed to this milestone rise.

As far as smartphone shipments go, it appears to be at their lowest point. Compared to 2020 Q2, when the pandemic sent the entire world into a state of shutdown, Q2 2022 numbers are close to the record lows of that year.

In addition to a simple drop in demand, this 9% decrease could be caused by several factors. These include a tense geopolitical climate, the aftermath of the ongoing chip shortage, logistical problems, and others. According to Canalys analyst Toby Zhu, shortages of materials are no longer an issue. As of late, business trends have been complicated to predict, resulting in an oversupply to meet demand.

The drop in numbers since last year’s peak can be attributed to all of these factors.
