Huawei was recently reported as surpassing Apple as the second largest manufacturing brand. However, Huawei doesn’t have any smartphones that made it to the top 10 best-selling smartphones. But the big question is when will the time come when Huawei rises to the top beating the number one, Samsung?

That said, we pit the Huawei and Samsung brand in various categories that they are prominent as of date. You may check out the breakdown below the top brands’ showdown:

SoC onboard: Exynos 8895 vs Kirin 960

Based on our best performing SoC list, Samsung’s Exynos 8895 takes the second spot below the Snapdragon 835. With the Galaxy S8, the Exynos 8895 achieved a benchmark score of 174,231.

On the other hand, Huawei‘s latest Kirin 960 came fourth just below Apple’s AX10 with a score of 125,395. Yet, Huawei MIGHT beat Samsung and Apple with their upcoming Kirin 970 SoC equipped with AI capabilities. Well who knows, maybe Apple and Samsung got something up their sleeve after hearing that?

OS: EMUI 5.1 vs SAMSUNG Experience

Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 is up against SAMSUNG Experience which was called TouchWiz in the past. Samsung has the upper hand since their SAMSUNG Experience is leveled up due to their Bixby Voice, Vision and Home.

SAMSUNG Experience: Alongside Bixby, the Experience also offers Edge and Grace UX. The Edge UX was first seen in the Edge phones with its Tasks Edge and Edge feeds. After the Edge UX, Samsung introduced Grace UX for the A, J7, C, S7 and S8 series which was the one that boasted Bixby experience.

EMUI 5.1: the EMUI 5.1 comes with Huawei Ultra Memory, Huawei Share, and Ultra Response. Before the Split-screen was known, Huawei claimed that their EMUI 3 started it all since 2015. Not only that but their EMUI 5.1 features Tracking Object and Hybrid Zoom for the camera.

Other features found in the EMUI 5.1 include Game Performance Cruise System, Gloves Mode, Smart Screenshot, Knuckle Draw, Global Search, Smart Calendar and Pocket Mode.

Accessories supported

Samsung is known to release a variety of products to enhance the convenience of their smartphones. Among those products are the Gear 360, Gear VR and the Samsung DeX Station.

Meanwhile, Huawei smartphones offer supports for Tripod Selfie Stick, 10000mAh Quick Charge Power Bank, Selfie Stick and Honor Bluetooth Speaker.

Verdict: As of now, Samsung clearly is the top dog between the two brands since it offers more user-friendly and convenient integrations on their devices. However, we need to stay alert cause maybe Huawei’s Kirin 970 may step up their game as it officially launches on the P10.
