The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS was unveiled right before the company stunned all of us with the P20 and P20 Pro. The Mate RS features a triple camera setup, dual fingerprint scanners, and 512GB storage.
The Mate RS is indeed a stunning smartphone as the company states that the design of the smartphone is inspired by the Porsche 911. The display is full screen but no notch can be seen. Similar to the P20 Pro, it also has a Leica triple camera setup. however, it differs in placement. The triple camera setup on the Mate RS is located in the middle part of its rear.
The Huawei Mate RS comes in6” FullView OLED display with a 2880 x 1440 resolution. It is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 970, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There is also a 256GB version.
In the camera department, it arrives with 40MP f/1.8 RGB sensor paired with a 20MP f/1.6 monochrome camera and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens. It has camera features such as PDAF, CAF, laser, and depth autofocus. It also has 5x hybrid zoom, AI image stabilization, and 960fps super slow motion recording at 720p. For taking selfies, it has a 24MP f/2.0 fixed focus front-facing snapper.
It is also the first smartphone to carry two fingerprint scanners. Huawei is letting the users choose whether they want to use the front fingerprint sensor, face unlock, or the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
It’s such an amazing smartphone so it’s obvious that it’ll carry a very expensive price tag. Huawei will be selling the 512GB variant for €2095, which is roughly around $2599, while the 256GB variant is €1,695, which currently translates to $2,103. The Mate RS will go on sale in April.
