Flat Tire Guide: How to Find Spare in Toyota Innova, Fortuner, Hiace

If you find your Innova, Hiace Grandia, or Fortuner running on a flat tire, then there’s big a chance that first time Toyota drivers may find it difficult to locate the spare tire and tools.

Here’s a quick guide on where to find the spare tire, jack, wrench, and reflector signal before changing the flat tire. This is a guide that is applicable for the model 2016 Toyota Innova, Hiace Grandia Van, and 2017 Fortuner and up to the latest.

Note: 2020 and 2021 Innova, Fortuner, and Hiace vans have possible the same spare tire and tools location.

Where to find the lug wrench with pry bar/socket combination?

The first thing is to find the set of lug wrench and hydraulic jack before finding the spare tire. Locating the jack and wrench is easy and different for each Toyota car.

Innova and Fortuner – Jack and wrench can be found on the left side behind the 3rd row, the same for the Fortuner.

Hiace Grandia Van – The locations of jack and wrench are different. Jack is located on the step board of the sliding door. Its wrench and reflector signal are located below the 1st row.

Where is the spare tire and wheel located for Toyota Innova / Hiace / Fortuner?

You can find the spare tire for all three cars at the same location which is below their rear bumper just beside their exhaust. You will need to unlock it with a pry bar (lug wrench combined).

1. Lock the pry bar through the hole which is accessible and visible just above the rear bumper.
2. Once the bar has been locked with the female of the accessible chain, turn counterclockwise.
3. Confirm this if the chain and spare tire is moving down and continue all the way until the spare tire touches the ground.
4. Grab the chain hook in the middle of the wheel and remove it.

Changing your flat tire basic steps:

1. Safely park your car, place reflector signal, and put it on park mode or handbrake on.
2. Position the hydraulic jack near the jack points (near the tire), look for solid points, or check the manual.
3. Loosen the bolts in your flat wheel using your lug wrench.
4. Raise the jack using the bar
5. Completely remove all jacks and then remove the tire
6. Position your spare tire
7. Tighten the bolts halfway through
8. Lower the jack and then completely tighten all bolts
