Huawei’s former subsidiary, Honor, is set to return to the Philippines this August 2022.
An event will be held on August 9 to discuss the company’s upcoming comeback. Honor’s operations in the country will be handled by Iridium Technologies Inc., based on the invite.
To avoid US sanctions that crippled its leading brand, Huawei sold Honor to a Chinese state company-led consortium in 2020. It has risen to the #2 position just behind Apple in China within the last two years due to its budget smartphone offerings.
Honor smartphones are compatible with Google Mobile Services, unlike Huawei. Its meteoric rise can be attributed to its powerful hardware and affordable price tag.
As of right now, we do not know which devices will be arriving in the Philippines, but as soon as we get more information, we’ll keep you posted.
