According to Globe, the country’s number one mobile wallet will soon allow its users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies through its platform, which will be updated in the coming months.
There is no question that cryptocurrency interest and adoption remain significantly higher in the Philippines than the global average, primarily due to the popularity of play-to-earn games among Filipinos, who are among the world’s top mobile gamers, despite the current bear market.
Since Filipinos own so many NFTs, and as a result, take advantage of this medium to express themselves creatively, there are enormous market development opportunities in NFTs, said Neil Trinidad, GCash Vice President and Head of New Business.
GCash recently became compatible with Binance, Philippine Digital Assets Exchange (PDAX), and Paxful, which allow users to buy crypto. With Globe’s recent announcement, it can now be expected that GCash will soon be joined by these other crypto exchanges shortly.
