
A week ago, the company released a poster that ASUS is going #Backto5. ASUS confirmed the launch date of the Zenfone 5 which will happen on February 27 at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. Now, few specification details and photos of one of the Zenfone 5 series has leaked online.
According to the first who reported the news which is Winfuture.de, their source is a manufacturer’s manual and it only lists the phone’s model number as ASUS X00PD. The ASUS Zenfone 5 X00PD is rumored to have a 5.7” display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. There are no home button and the fingerprint scanner on the front since it has small bezels. The fingerprint scanner now resides at the back. Also, rumors have it that we might see at least 3 devices from this series – Zenfone 5, Zenfone 5 Lite and Zenfone 5 Max.
Last 2 weeks, an unknown ASUS smartphone with the codename ASUS_X00QD has been approved by Wi-Fi Alliance recently. The certification of the ASUS_X00QD will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo and it carries support Wi-Fi 802.11ac. It is speculated to be the ASUS Zenfone 5 Max
Also, the Zenfone 5 has been recently certified in Russia and the Lite variant will probably be a midrange handset with 6-inch display and will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset. The certification has revealed that the model number of ZC600KL where “KL” confirms that it would be fueled by Snapdragon chipset and it carries support for LTE connectivity.
