After Taiwan, Philippines was next in line for the reveal of ASUS ROG’s new blade-like contender, the ROG Zephyrus (GX501).
Being ASUS’s first entry into the featherweight division (2.2kg), it sure packs a punch with either a GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 while having a reversed layout for increased accessibility.
It’s thicker 17.9mm side is where things get even more interesting. Under the supposed exhaust-intake is a self-raising metallic bar foot with several automatically locking points meant to naturally raise the rear of the ROG Zephyrus for more cooling potential.
This mechanism reportedly reduces 10°C compared to when laid against a flat surface.
Of course, with all the bells and whistles, pricing was never meant to be a wallet-friendly factor. The GTX 1080 variant goes for P179,995 while the lower-spec’d GTX 1070 variant can be bought for P149,995. Both variants are set to be available this July and August respectively at nearby ROG Concept Stores.
