Xiaomi Corporation is a Chinese multinational electronics company founded in April 2010 and based in Beijing. Although people see the brand solely for smartphones, Xiaomi actually boasts a wide range of products. Such products include laptops, home appliances, bags, shoes, consumer electronics, and a lot more. Most have nothing to do with chips and software. So, it is quite surprising to many that Xiaomi is officially announcing its newest product, the Smart Door Lock Pro. But, according to some sources, Xiaomi is not at all new to this. They have been at it for the past 2 years.
November 4, 2020, will see the launch of this new product. Although Smart Locks are not mainstream in our country, let’s face it, we all dream of having one, right? It adds security and comfort to our home and family. Having an extra locking mechanism that can be opened in any number of ways such as PIN codes and /or fingerprints can add security and peace of mind. But now, Xiaomi has added a “smart” way to the typical door lock. According to the poster, there will be two cameras on the front of the device which would indicate that a face recognition capability is in place. Does this mean a face unlock feature as well? It does look like it. And for us, this just adds to the comfortability and security of this device.
Compared to the usual method of touching the door handle, what with the new normal being implemented in our lives at this moment and for the foreseeable future, now we can bypass the dangers of touching the door handle that other people have touched. Now, who would not want to avoid that? Also, basing on the poster and the teaser released, it shows the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock Pro to have two cameras. This creates a more secure recognition system.
In any case, come November 4, we will really know the capabilities of the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock Pro and if the cameras are really for unlocking and/or recording surveillance videos.
