98% of Teachers Concerned About Student Cheating with ChatGPT

As per a recent survey, homeschool teachers are 35% more likely to support using ChatGPT in K–12 education than schoolteachers.

A total of 69% of schoolteachers and 68% of homeschool educators think that it is a good way to prepare kids for tech-related jobs. The first kids that homeschool teachers show ChatGPT to are as young as 11 years old.

However, 10% of teachers say they have caught students cheating on tests using ChatGPT.

One bright side is that 57% of schoolteachers think ChatGPT is great for kids with special needs because it makes things easier for them to access.

Technology should bring people together, but you can’t ignore the dark sides that are always there. A shocking 98% of schoolteachers are worried about using ChatGPT, especially the risk that students will become more dependent on technology and lose the ability to think critically.

The different views among teachers show the usual problem with technology: it can be both very helpful and very annoying.

Teachers at home use the tool for individual lessons and learning games, but they are aware of the problems it can cause, just like teachers. Even though 44% of homeschool teachers are using ChatGPT in their lessons, 95% say they aren’t sure about it.
