There’s no solid evidence yet such as photos or actual hardware and specs details but it looks like this will be possible. Why? Mainly, the current Xiaomi Redmi 3 and Redmi 3 Pro sport some powerful Snapdragon processor with variations in RAM and internal memory. The option for Xiaomi to go with a 10-core chip of Mediatek is a good move for its budget series.
