
This 2018, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 which was also the first smartphone that launched with the Snapdragon 636. The company is once again thinking of launching a brand new smartphone that will house the Snapdragon 638, an upgraded version of the previously mentioned chipset. The device was given the code name, “Valentino”.
This speculation came from a Geekbench listing that appeared yesterday. The listing revealed that the upcoming smartphone will sport the Snapdragon 638 with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.44GHz.
As seen from the photo above, the device will contain 6GB of RAM and will run on Android 8.1 Oreo. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Valentino got a single-core score of 1485 and a multi-core score of 5440 in the listing.
Not much is known about the Snapdragon 638 chipset. However, speculations state that the chipset might arrive with an Adreno 509 GPU or higher.
On another note, Xiaomi has announced that they will be launching the latest phone from the Redmi S-series, the Redmi S2, on May 10, 2018. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will feature a 5.99″ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The upcoming smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 625 along with 3GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB.
