Volkswagen has taken the covers off of its newest concept car, the ID.X Performance. This is a departure from what performance cars usually look like. The show took place in Munich and shows that Volkswagen wants to combine speed and environmental friendliness, which isn’t often seen in the fast world of sports cars.
The ID.X Performance isn’t your average electric car. It looks amazing and is very different from its base form, the ID.7 sedan. It starts with a mean-looking black hood and vents that match, but that’s not all. For a sporty look, the car has a red trim that goes all the way around it. The carbon fiber exhaust makes it eco-friendly as well.
But what’s really magic is what’s inside. Volkswagen’s electric cars all use the same MEB design, which is used in the ID.X Performance. That being said, the car has an amazing 550 horsepower thanks to its two electric motors. Even though it has a lot of power, the car is still environmentally friendly because it has the same 200-kilowatt DC fast charging capacity as the ID.7.
The idea hasn’t been given the go-ahead to be made yet, but it’s already making waves in the industry. People are questioning the idea that “high performance” and “eco-friendly” can’t go together, which is something to keep an eye on.
No one knows for sure if this concept car will ever be sold, but it’s clear that Volkswagen wants to push the limits of EVs, especially when it comes to sports cars.
