In a surprising move, NTC has given authority to Manny Villar-owned Advance Media Broadcasting System Inc. to test the frequencies previously used by media-giant ABS-CBN according to Bilyonaryo blog.
The Channel 16 has 18 months period for the Advanced Media Broadcasting to test and maintain while the main Channel 2 has just been awarded last January 6th this year and will be tested by the company until further notice.
It’s not yet officially awarded by NTC but with the close ties of Manny Villar to President Duterte, it seems inevitable that the Villar-led broadcasting company will finally enter the TV and radio broadcasting market in the Philippines.
The Congress of the Philippines didn’t grant ABS-CBN their franchise renewal last 2020, thus, NTC revoked and removed the authorities from the Lopez-led company the permit and frequencies to operate.
