TikTok’s New Photo Mode Mimics Instagram’s

We just wrote about how Instagram took a page from TikTok by adding full-screen videos that look like the TikTok feed. TikTok is copying Instagram with its new “Photo Mode” feature.

With the new TikTok feature, users can share up to 2,200 characters worth of still photos on the social media platform. Does this sound familiar? Yes, that’s exactly what Instagram is for.

Tiktok is still a place to share videos, so the Photo Mode feature lets users add music to their posts. The people who made the app say that they hope this new feature and the increase in the number of characters will help users “express themselves and connect with others more deeply.”

Even though the new feature is a good idea, all social media platforms are now starting to look the same, both in terms of their interfaces and content. Mashable even said that creators are now creating to share content on Tiktok that they have already shared on Instagram.TikTok Photo Mode 1

In a recent post, Instagram said they’ve been having trouble with engagements. On top of that, The Wall Street Journal recently noted that Tiktok is way ahead of Instagram reels regarding how much time users spend watching videos daily. So, will this new feature of Tiktok make Instagram even less important in social media?
