TECNO has announced on Wednesday about the “RGBW”. Its new technology for camera sensors that promises to increase the quality of photographs captured at night or in low light environments.
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 conference, the company revealed new details of the 64MP ISOCELL GWB sensor. For those familiar with the ISOCELL nomenclature, it’s easy to see that the component was developed in partnership with Samsung. The camera hardware will launch with the TECNO Camon 19 series.
The ISOCELL GWB with RGBW technology adds a layer of white pixels to the “RGB” (Red, Green and Blue) making it more sensitive to light and producing the best images in low-level night scenes of noise.
The hardware is enhanced by image post-processing algorithms developed by TECNO itself. The company estimates that photographs and videos captured by the ISOCELL GBW deliver 60% increased light sensitivity.
According to the brand, the unprecedented sensor will reach the market through devices under the “Camon” line still in 2022, although a debut date is not revealed, but it is possible that they will be announced in the middle of the second quarter.
“Camon” is a series that focuses on bringing the best camera experience to our users,” says Leo Lee, General Product Manager at TECNO. “Using RGBW, it will enhance the camera capabilities and flexibility of the Camon 19 line to meet consumer demands.”
TECNO also advanced lenses with Sensor Shift for Android phones and “telescopic cameras” with increased optical zoom. All these technologies are expected to debut throughout 2022.
