
Globe Telecom Inc. said on Tuesday that the number of scam and spam messages about banks dropped by 46 percent in the first half of the year, from 9.06 million to 4.85 million.
From 5.1 million in 2022, the number was said to have dropped to 779,254 in just the second quarter.
Anton Bonifaction, Globe’s chief information security officer, said, that this drop in fake messages shows that Globe is still committed to keeping their customers safe from online threats. It also shows how important it is for industry leaders and regulators to work together to stop cyber fraud.
Globe works with banks and other financial institutions, the telco company can take immediate and effective steps to stop online fraud and protect customers’ their hard-earned money.
Last year, Globe signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bankers Association of the Philippines and separate agreements with big banks to make it easier for fraud to be reported, data to be shared, and suspicious actions to be filtered out.
Globe also said that it was continuing to invest in new technologies and open ways to make it easier for people to report spam and scam SMS and get them taken out of its network.
