Sharp announced today a new pair of entry-level models that will help meet the demand for affordable smartphones in Indonesia. After the launch of AQUOS Wish, the Japanese company is announcing the AQUOS V6 and V6 Plus, which boast good features despite their more affordable price.
Few details differ the standard model from the “Plus” variant, and design is not one of them. We’re talking about an attractive look with a satin finish and a module that houses camera lenses arranged vertically on both devices. The “AQUOS” brand stands out in relation to the “Sharp” logo engraved at the bottom.
Moving on to the technical details, the AQUOS V6 and V6 Plus have 6.52-inch IPS LCD screens with HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels) and a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. On both smartphones, there are drop-shaped notches, which houses 8MP front cameras for the V6 Plus and 5MP for the V6.
The more basic AQUOS V6 has a triple set of cameras represented by the 13MP main sensor. The V6 Plus increases its photographic capacity and has a 50MP main camera . The auxiliary units — macroscopic lens and depth sensor — are only 2MP on both phones.
The models’ processing is based on the MediaTek Helio G25, an octa-core that operates at frequencies up to 2.0 GHz and integrates the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The V6 will work with the single memory configuration of 3GB RAM and 32GB storage; the V6 Plus will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
To power the hardware, the devices rely on 5,000 mAh batteries. Both the AQUOS V6 and V6 Plus supports charging at only 10W.
The AQUOS V6 and V6 Plus are now available at Indonesian retail with MSRPs of IDR 1,949,000 (~PHP 7,000), and IDR 2,499,000 (~PHP 8,975) respectively. There is currently no report of global availability. The most basic model has only the gray color option, while the more robust model has a satin blue finish.
