Last week, realme introduced its latest addition to the number series—the realme 14 Pro+ 5G.
That is why in this article, we’ll compare it to its predecessor, the realme 13 Pro+ 5G.
What changes have been made, and what’s new with the 14 Pro+? Let’s find out!
The realme 14 Pro+ features a smooth, matte-like finish on the back, while the 13 Pro+ that we have comes with a vegan leather back.
In terms of design, I prefer the 13 Pro+ since it looks more premium and feels more comfortable in hand. Although the camera module of the 14 Pro+ appears more refined, the overall look of its predecessor feels more luxurious.
In terms of dimensions, the 13 Pro+ is lighter at 185g compared to the 14 Pro+, which weighs 194g. However, the 14 Pro+ is slightly thinner than its predecessor.
One of the most significant upgrades in build quality is the improved durability—the 14 Pro+ now comes with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, whereas the 13 Pro+ only has an IP65 rating.
If we’re judging by design alone, I’d stick with the 13 Pro+—as long as it’s the vegan leather variant. But for durability and longevity, the 14 Pro+ is the better choice due to its enhanced protection.
The realme 14 Pro+ 5G boasts a 6.83-inch 1.2K OLED display, while the 13 Pro+ has a slightly smaller 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display.
Both support a 120Hz refresh rate and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Despite the upgraded resolution of the 14 Pro+, the 13 Pro+ still stands out in outdoor use with its higher peak brightness of 2000 nits.
While the display upgrades aren’t drastic, they do contribute to an improved viewing experience.
The realme 14 Pro+ 5G retains the same camera setup as its predecessor:
In terms of image quality, the realme 14 Pro+ produces more vibrant photos, whereas the 13 Pro+ delivers a more natural look.
The 14 Pro+ also tends to have a warmer tone with deeper blacks and shadows.
Rear Camera Sample Shots
Both devices perform well in low-light conditions, capturing decent detail and sharpness. Colors remain visible as long as there’s sufficient lighting.
For selfies, both phones produce similar image quality in terms of color accuracy and sharpness.
Selfie Camera Sample Shots
When it comes to video recording, both rear cameras can shoot up to 4K at 30FPS without stabilization, while their front cameras also support 4K at 30FPS.
However, the 14 Pro+ offers stabilization for selfie videos—but only at 1080p 30FPS.
Powering the 14 Pro+ is the 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, while the 13 Pro+ runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
Benchmark results show that the 14 Pro+ offers better performance with higher scores.
Benchmark Results
Out of the box, the 14 Pro+ runs on Android 15 with realme UI 6.0, whereas the 13 Pro+ originally launched with Android 14 and realme UI 5.0.
However, my 13 Pro+ is already updated to the latest Android version, so I can enjoy the same software features without upgrading my device.
One of the most notable upgrades in the 14 Pro+ is its battery capacity. While the 13 Pro+ packs a 5200mAh battery, the 14 Pro+ comes with a massive 6000mAh battery. Both devices support 80W fast charging.
Although AMOLED displays are power-efficient, the larger battery of the realme 14 Pro+ ensures longer battery life.
The 13 Pro+ is priced at PHP31,999 for the 12GB + 512GB configuration, while the 14 Pro+ comes in at a lower price of PHP27,999 for the same storage option.
Overall, both phones offer similar features, but the 14 Pro+ stands out with its improvements.
It has a larger battery, a higher-resolution display, better durability, and a lower price—making it the more compelling choice.
