Philippines’ Best Streaming Services

In 2022, consumers in the Philippines will have a wide selection of video streaming services. This article helps you decide which streaming services are worth subscribing to based on what type of content you want to watch. Our list comprises all available video streaming services in the Philippines and the best ones to subscribe to in 2022.

Netflix

Despite its declining subscriber base, Netflix remains one of the best streaming services in the Philippines. Netflix’s Standard subscription costs ₱459 a month and allows you to watch its broad content library in Full HD simultaneously with up to two users. You can watch shows in 4K and HDR with the ₱549 plan, along with up to four simultaneous streams.

HBO Go

Indeed, HBO Go is not as comprehensive as HBO Max (which is not available in your area), but it does cover a vast amount of HBO content, and one of its key shows is the entire Game of Thrones, as well as its spin-off series. Even though the service is limited to Full HD resolution and a maximum of two simultaneous streams at the cost of ₱199 per month, it is still a considerable bargain.

YouTube Premium

YouTube Music and Premium Launched; Get your FREE 1 month trial

Getting YouTube Premium can be beneficial in more than one way, which goes beyond avoiding the ads on the site. With the YouTube Music subscription, you can access YouTube Music, helping you save money from subscribing to another music streaming service. Furthermore, besides these great features, YouTube Premium offers exclusive content, including YouTube Originals.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+ in the Apple TV app - Apple Support (ZA)

In terms of price, TV+ might seem a bit pricey at Php 249 a month when you consider that Apple’s lineup of original content is pretty slim compared to that of more established streaming platforms. Despite this, TV+ allows you to watch up to six streams simultaneously, which is the most we’ve seen from a streaming service. Apart from that, Apple’s original shows are excellent, and you can watch them in full 4K HDR glory, which is a huge advantage.

Viu

Viu top streamer in SE Asia for monthly users in Q4 - Digital TV Europe

A good option for you to watch Asian dramas on Viu with Filipino dubbing if you’re a sucker for them. With ₱129 a month, you can stream these shows on up to three devices simultaneously in Full HD. With Viu, you can watch the latest Asian drama episodes just a few hours after they premiere.

iQIYI

iQIYI - Drama, Anime, Show - Apps on Google Play

The Premium tier for iQIYI is slightly more expensive than Viu at Php 149 per month (the standard deck costs Php 99 and is limited to 2 simultaneous streams). Still, one of the advantages of iQIYI is that it also includes an extensive library of anime shows and the ability to stream up to four concurrent streams and watch shows in 4K simultaneously. It is important to note that iQIYI, just like Viu, keeps its library up-to-date, which means you will have access to the latest episode of the hottest Asian drama soon after its release.

Discovery+

Is Discovery Plus Worth Paying For? Who Should Subscribe?

This Php 129 monthly subscription with Discovery+ is an excellent deal if you love documentaries from Animal Planet, BBC, TLC, HGTV, Discovery, and more. It caters to a niche market; it’s a service that is worth taking into consideration if you have a preference for documentaries over TV shows and movies. In addition to documentaries, Discovery+ has a fair share of TV shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race, primarily a documentary channel. You can watch shows up to 4K resolution and have up to four streams running simultaneously.

Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video:Amazon.com:Appstore for Android

With an aggressive promo price of only ₱149 per month until the end of 2022, now is the perfect time for you to buy Amazon Prime Video. This is because Amazon’s streaming service will allow you to consume content simultaneously at up to 4K resolution and up to three concurrent streams. Amazon’s promo price might initially seem a little steep since its local content library isn’t awe-inspiring. Still, the company is committed to improving it in the coming months, which makes its promo offer an attractive one for now because of its lean content library.

iWant

Watch iWantTFC (TFC.tv) pinoy teleserye on your TV – Cmik Add-ons

You might be tempted to sign up for iWant if you want access to ABS-CBN shows without having to deal with ads, but it’s hard to justify paying ₱120 a month for it. It isn’t that we are discouraging the consumption of local content more that nowadays, most of the content that ABS-CBN produces can be found online and on other platforms. Other than that, there are some limitations when it comes to resolution, and you can only watch one stream at a time with the free version – and it should be sufficient for most users.

iFlix

Video streaming startup iFlix gets US$30M funding ahead of Southeast Asia launch

Aside from sounding like a Netflix ripoff, it is hard to consider iFlix these days. It is a ₱129 monthly subscription that barely offers anything unique to the table compared to its rivals, Viu and iQIYI, as its content isn’t much different from what can be found on Viu or iQIYI. In addition, the Netflix service offers only two simultaneous streams and Full HD resolution, and there is not enough exclusive content to convince people to pay for a subscription. As of right now, we have not heard of any new and original iFlix content in the last few months. Hopefully, they will do so shortly.
