The OnePlus 6 was launched earlier this month. The device caused a huge uproar especially its Marvels Avengers limited edition. The smartphone recently became available for purchase but according to reports, the “Always-On Display” feature was removed.
The “Always-On Display” was one of the most anticipated features of the OnePlus 6 so it was a big surprise to a lot of users that it was removed despite its popularity. In response, OnePlus has stated that an official update from their Technical Team confirmed that Always-On Display on OnePlus 6 was removed due to battery saving concern.
Before the update, the feature was definitely included in the device as proved by a Reddit user who posted a screenshot.
Unfortunately, the company did not specify if there was an issue with the feature’s battery consumption or if a battery draining bug existed. Speculations state that the feature might have been causing abnormal battery drain which is why the company disabled it. As of now, there are no information if the feature will return to the device.
Additional features that were included in the update enables its users to slow-mo video recording and hide the notch through its compatibility mode. A security patch for this month was also included along with the update. The smartphone’s camera has been improved as well and can now take photos in portrait mode quickly.
The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28″ Full Optic Full HD+ display with 2180 x 1080 resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. It also has three variants of storage – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The OnePlus 6 is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with OxygenOS 5.1.
As for its camera setup, it features a 16MP + 20MP dual camera setup and a 16MP front camera.
