Chief Executive Office of HMD Global, Arto Nummela, leads the opening act with a classic Nokia tune hummed by a chorale group.
As if entering a “new” age of mobile phone, HMD Global seems to just realize Android as the current leading mobile operating system.
While gone are the Lumia days, HMD Global steers to the right direction with the announcement of Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, along with the global release of Nokia 6.
The first re-comeback smartphone of Nokia under HMD Global packs the highest specification of the three.
Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 430, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 16MP main camera and 8MP selfie camera.
We’ve seen first the matte black but if you are fond of the glossy surface, Arte Black limited edition will be available for the 4GB/64GB variant.
Given the condition, it’s priced at 315euros or almost Php17,000($333). While the regular matte black, silver, copper, and blue costs 229euros or Php12,000 ($242).

The Nokia 5 slightly goes smaller in size at a 5.2-inch 720p display. The same Snapdragon 430 runs the mid-range handset together with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. You also get to use a 13MP/8MP camera combination.
While most manufacturers show the main difference on the specification, this one is all about the design.
It walks away from the bumpy edge of the Nokia 6 in exchange for better ergonomics thanks to its curved sides. The Nokia 5 costs 189euros or Php10,000($199).

Completing the mid-range tier comes with modest specification, Nokia 3.
HMD Global did not break the regular size smartphone barrier with another 5.0-inch 720p display but it did removed the fingerprint scanner feature.
All your processing needs will be handled by a MediaTek 6737 quad-core chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Both 8MP sensors will be used for the front and rear camera. And instead of an all-metal, only the frame will be held cold as the backing is covered by polycarbonate plastic.
The Nokia 3 has a friendly price tag of 139euros or almost Php7500(147).
Nokia 3, 5 and 6 may not be that impressive at all but it’s not that bad either.
HMD Global is trying to make a point that all handsets from HMD Global are optimized due to its near-Android stock experience based on Nougat. Meaning, no customizations or whatsoever that provides snappy performance.
That just completes the half of HMD Global’s 2017 smartphone lineup as we wait for the flagship tier that will complete the re-comeback of Nokia.

In other news, we are going back to the past. Seemingly indestructible with unmatched battery life back in its own days(we believe up until now), Nokia 3310 rises from the crowd and sets a flag on top of all (living) smartphones.
Long time Nokia fans and consumers wished for the Nokia 3310 that’s why HMD Global decided to have fun with it. (Because, why not?)
The modern Nokia 3310 is still indestructible, according to the company. Thickness was reduced to half, the back cover is removable, even the battery, but still solid and durable. The screen is bigger, colored, as well as the phone itself. Good old game Snake too is available, built in S30 software. By the way, it has a rear camera.
Compared to the old Nokia 3310, it has 10 times longer the talk time, 22 hours and twice the standby-time of one month. You can also charge it via the microUSB port. Take that, smartphones. If there’s one thing that the new feature phone has and which Apple iPhone 7 lacks, it’s the 3.55mm headphone jack.
Nokia 3310 costs 42euros or almost Php2,500($44).
What an interesting day for Nokia and HMD Global, in a world full of cutting-edge technology and top of the line features – Nokia 3310 bravely stands in a league of its own.
