LG has not been performing well in the smartphone market since 2015. Going back, LG’s flagship G5 was not received well by the consumers despite its modular capabilities.
If things are not going well, might as well change something in the process and that’s what LG did with the new appointment of CEO for the mobile division, Jo Seong-jin.
Jo was the head of LG’s home and appliance that provided 25% boost on profit since 2013. An official from LG cited, “LG Electronics decided to name Jo as our new sole CEO in recognition for his charismatic decision-making in recent years to launch innovative new products, and his performance has been proven in quarterly earnings”.
As per Android Authority, LG projected 23% drop in mobile sales along with the release of the LG G5. Nonetheless, the launch of the V20 looks to steer the company in the right direction with a strong market base in the US.
