Apple recently announced iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9 versions of its operating systems.
The new operating systems will be released when the next-generation iPhone 14 series is officially launched next month. It is still unclear when iPadOS 16 will be removed.
According to Apple, iPadOS 16 won’t be released until iOS 16 for smartphones starts rolling out to users. The company told TechCrunch: “iPadOS will be delivered on its schedule.”. In a free software update later this year, iPadOS will follow iOS 16.1.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has released iOS and iPadOS together so far. Still, since iOS was split off from iPadOS a few years ago, it was always possible that Apple would change its release schedule.
Confirming the delayed release of the new iPadOS follows rumors that the company will hold a separate product launch event in October for the entry-level iPad and iPad Pro. New iPad models are typically announced along with iPhone models in September.
Additionally, some of the new features of iPadOS that were announced when the software was unveiled have raised concerns. Apple should delay the release of the stable version until some new features, such as Stage Manager for multitasking, are fixed.
