
According to a report by The Korea Times, Hyundai Motor Group has become the world’s third-largest car maker.
Hyundai’s brands include Kia, Genesis, and Hyundai. A total of 3.3 million vehicles were sold in the first half of 2022.
As a result of the above sales figure, the group is ranked third, just behind Toyota and Volkswagen. In comparison, Toyota sold 5.1 million vehicles, and Volkswagen Group produced 4 million. Taking 4th place with 3.14 million vehicles sold is the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, followed by Stellantis with 3.01 million.
According to Hyundai Motor Group’s sales volume in the first half of 2021, the company ranked fifth.
In addition to other carmakers, the Hyundai Group experienced production setbacks due to semiconductor shortages. Nevertheless, Hyundai suffered the smallest production decline with only 5.1 percent. Compared to Toyota, Volkswagen, Stellantis, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, Nissan, and General Motors, they are all down by 6 percent, 14 percent, and 6 percent, respectively.
Furthermore, Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis posted positive sales, adding significant sales.
