HTC is slowly trying to climb there way back to the smartphone market as the company introduces two new mid-range phones after a year of silence. Meet the HTC U20 5G and HTC Desire 20 Pro — that come with prices of NT$18,990(~P32k) and NT$8,990(~P15k), respectively. Both smartphones are expected to be released in Taiwan exclusively, with the U20 going on sale on June 1 and the Desire 20 Pro on June 18.
The HTC U20 5G features 6.8-inch Full HD display with two colorways to choose from — green and white. It also sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which allows for 5G connectivity and Android 10 with HTC’s near-stock skin. As for the cameras, it has a quad-camera featuring 48MP, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth. The selfie camera comes with 32MP housed in a punch-hole cutout. In terms of storage, the smartphone packs 8GB of RAM accompanied by 256GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card. With the QuickCharge 4.0, users can achieve 18W fast charging for the 5000mAh battery. A fingerprint scanner is found at the back which is still faster than most optical in-display scanners today. Another thing to keep in my mind is that the U20 5G does not have an audio jack, unfortunately

Under the hood, the mid-range phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 along with Adreno 610 GPU. Furthermore, the rear cameras give you 48MP wide, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth while the front camera provides you a 25MP sensor. You will also get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with a microSD card expansion slot. The device also features a 5000mAh battery that is capable of QuickCharge 3.0. Compared to the U20, the Desire 20 Pro is built with an audio jack.
As mentioned earlier, HTC’s new duo phones are aimed at the Taiwanese market. The company may not be the same powerhouse brand that they used to but they are showing interest in getting back on track.
