We’re back with another comparison, and in this article, we’ll be looking at two of the latest midrange releases from HONOR and POCO, the POCO X7 5G and the HONOR X9c.
Both devices come at a similar price point, but which one offers the best value for money? Let’s find out!
Both devices offer distinct designs. The HONOR X9c features a stylish back panel that stands out, while the POCO X7 opts for a more minimalistic look.
Both have a centered camera module, but the POCO X7’s module is more protruded, as its sensors are also elevated.
In terms of dimensions, the X7 is lighter, weighing 185.5g compared to the HONOR X9c’s 189g. Despite being slightly heavier, the X9c has a slimmer profile at 8mm thick, while the POCO X7 measures 8.4mm.
When it comes to durability, the POCO X7 boasts an IP68 rating, while the HONOR X9c has an IP65 rating. However, in our durability tests, the HONOR X9c proved to be the more robust option.
If durability is a priority, the X9c may be the better choice, but design preference is subjective—would you go for a sleek, stylish phone or a more minimalistic one?
Both devices feature curved AMOLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution. The HONOR X9c has a slightly larger 6.78-inch screen, while the POCO X7 measures 6.67 inches.
The HONOR X9c also has a higher peak brightness of 4000 nits, making it better for outdoor use compared to the POCO X7’s 3000 nits.
However, the POCO X7 has additional features such as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, making it a better option in terms of overall display quality and durability.
The HONOR X9c comes with a dual-camera setup consisting of a 108MP OIS main shooter and a 5MP ultrawide lens. The POCO X7, on the other hand, has a triple-camera setup with a 50MP OIS main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera.
In terms of image quality, the X7 produces sharper, more vibrant colors, while the X9c delivers more natural-looking photos. Both cameras capture a good amount of detail, but the POCO X7 has deeper blacks and better contrast.
Rear Camera Setup
For low-light photography, the HONOR X9c performs better, producing clearer and more well-processed images, whereas the POCO X7 struggles with soft images and light flares.
Low-light Camera Sample
For selfies, the POCO X7 has a 20MP front camera, while the HONOR X9c comes with a 16MP shooter. The HONOR X9c’s selfies tend to be softer with fewer facial details, while the POCO X7 delivers true-to-life skin tones and better detail. Both devices have decent HDR processing, but the X9c’s results can be inconsistent.
Front Camera Sample Shot
When it comes to video recording, both devices support up to 4K@30FPS on their rear cameras. However, the X7 has an advantage in selfie video recording, offering up to 1080P@60FPS, while the HONOR X9c maxes out at 1080P@30FPS.
The POCO X7 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, whereas the HONOR X9c runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.
In terms of raw performance, the Dimensity 7300 is superior, boasting a higher clock speed and better benchmark results.
Regarding storage, the POCO X7 comes in two configurations: 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. The HONOR X9c only offers a 12GB + 256GB variant. Despite having less storage, the X9c has an advantage with its faster UFS 3.1 storage, compared to the X7’s UFS 2.2.
If you’re looking for more power and storage for the price, the POCO X7 is the better option. However, the HONOR X9c’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is still a solid mid-range processor.
Benchmark Result
One of the biggest advantages of the HONOR X9c is its battery capacity. It houses a massive 6600mAh silicon-carbon battery, significantly larger than the POCO X7’s 5110mAh battery.
Additionally, the HONOR X9c supports 66W fast charging, while the POCO X7 only offers 45W charging.
If battery life and charging speed are your main concerns, the HONOR X9c is the clear winner in this department.
The HONOR X9c is priced at PHP16,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant.
The POCO X7 is also priced at PHP16,999 for the 12GB + 512GB version, while the 8GB + 256GB variant costs PHP14,999.
Overall, the POCO X7 offers better value for its price.
It has more storage for the same cost, better camera performance, and a more powerful processor. However, that doesn’t mean the HONOR X9c isn’t worth considering. If you prioritize durability, battery life, and faster storage, the HONOR X9c is still a solid choice.
If affordability is a factor, the POCO X7 also offers a cheaper variant without sacrificing much.
