Huawei’s very own sub-brand, Honor, launches the high-end Honor 8 Pro in Europe aka Honor V9 in China.
The Honor 8 Pro serves as a successor to the Honor 8 of last year. With an upgraded specification, we are merely looking at a very competitive smartphone here.
Starting with the design, Honor swapped the glass backing with a matte aluminum finish complete with rounded sides for an added grip.
Up front boasts its 5.7-inch QHD display that looks like the iPhone 7 at a first glance. Flipping it over, however, resembles the upcoming Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom. Complete, of course, with the dual camera setup carrying 12MP RGB + 12MP monochromatic sensors for a better image quality overall.

Other features include a USB Type-C port, audio jack, NFC, micro-SD card slot, and EMUI 5.1 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.
Inside Huawei’s own UI is a program that opens apps quicker and optimizes it depending on your usage. Say, for example, you are using Facebook most of the time, it will allot more memory and processing for that app. Huawei is also collecting user feedback to further improve the experience through a beta program here.
Interestingly, the box of the Honor 8 Pro won’t be going straight to the attic as it doubles as a Google Cardboard viewer for VR content. So, yey!
Huawei only eyes Europe, for now, in selling the Honor 8 Pro wherein pre-orders has already begun for £474.99 or almost Php30k($593 USD), available in Navy Blue, Midnight Black, and Platinum Gold.
