Yes, that is correct. You can now capture Ditto in Pokemon Go but there is a catch.

Ditto is not on the map

Ditto will show as a random Pokemon on your map – maybe a Zubat, Rattata or Caterpie most likely. Once captured, it will reveal itself as Ditto.
