When we took our first glance on the handset, we were a bit amazed by its rather peculiar design. The modular type cam, the leather back and overall exterior design felt rather premium. It seems that ASUS did indeed step up their game, in terms of design and the Zenfone Zoom is one of those clear upbringings from stepping up their game. The design itself looked like a combination of Samsung’s K-zoom and Nokia’s Lumia 1020, which is quite a fascinating combo.
Well, with 4GB of RAM, a smooth software performance is pretty much guaranteed. The ASUS Zenfone Zoom is capable of holding its ground, despite running a lot of side apps and actively working certain apps. It’s Intel Atom chip is doing its job, for now, though I can’t say much about its software since we’ll be leaving all the info and in-depth analysis part on our Zenfone Zoom review, think of this as a teaser for that.
The Asus Zenfone Zoom’s borrowed a lot of modular traits from past camera phones, however, it did improve in a few of those phone’s weakness, one, in particular, is the expanding camera sensor, whenever you’re zooming in or out. For the Zenfone Zoom, the sensor stays in place and is very much efficient, unlike the one’s that the Samsung K-zoom boasts. We have to give credit for Asus since it felt obvious that they were taking notes on the drawbacks of previous modular zoom smartphone cameras and try to remove or, at least, minimize those drawbacks.
