Asus has finally released and shown some key features of their upcoming Zenfone Max smartphone that pack a 5000mAh battery, the largest capacity we’ve seen from Asus series of smartphones. The Zenfone Max ZC550KL model shares some specs as what was seen in the Zenfone Selfie and the entry level of Zenfone Laser such as the 5.5-inch HD display, 64-bit processor, 13MP main camera and expandable storage.
The claimed battery life and endurance rating look promising, with 38 days standby battery (I bet in cellular, WiFi off mode), 37.6 hours in 3G cellular talk time, 32.5 hours WiFi web browsing, and 22.5 hours of video playback. In addition, the Zenfone Max can be utilized as external battery or power bank to charge other devices. Of course, all of these are not 100% guaranteed, battery life will still vary on every user. But so far, these figures look impressive.

Interestingly, the Zenfone Max is Asus’ take on Lenovo K80 with 4000 mAh battery and other competition including from Cherry Mobile, Starmobile, Alcatel, Huawei, and Xiaomi. Surely, we will be putting the Zenfone Max in a comparison between any of the close rivals and alternatives once it becomes available in the local market of the Philippines.
