Apple to Reuse OLED for iPhone SE 4

Rumors about Apple’s budget-friendly iPhone SE 4 hint at exciting developments for its next iteration, expected in 2025. Recent reports suggest that LG Display may join the lineup as a second supplier of OLED screens.

According to The Elec, BOE will be the primary supplier for the iPhone SE 4’s display, having won the bid over Samsung due to its more affordable panel costs. This isn’t BOE’s first collaboration with Apple, as they have previously supplied displays for other iPhone models.

However, the iPhone SE 4 deal is significant for BOE, as it will account for 60 to 70% of the SE 4 screens—about 20 million units per year.

The Elec also notes that LG Display could be the second supplier, providing additional OLED panels. Apple is reportedly planning to adapt the iPhone 13’s display for the SE 4, though with some feature downgrades to reduce costs. LG Display already supplies panels for the iPhone 13, so this adaptation could streamline production and help lower expenses for Apple.

The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a 6.06-inch display, slightly smaller than the 6.1-inch screen of the iPhone 13. This adjustment means LG Display might need to modify the panel to fit the SE 4’s design.
