Scrolling on social media is one of the most dominant things that phone users usually do on their smartphones. A lot of people also love to take pictures and record videos of their daily lives, so if you are looking for a device that you can use for everyday purposes and if you are on a budget, I think this device might be the best one for you.

Design and Display

back 1Let’s take a look at the design first, the build of the back of Oppo A54 is made out of glass-like material, with a glossy finish that makes it prone to fingerprint smudges which is kind of a bummer, this device is not really sweaty hands friendly.

Going to the back of the device, located at the top right corner is the triple camera module which holds the 13mp camera with two 2mp cameras for macro and depth, and can record videos up to 1080p@30fps.

The screen of the Oppo A54 boasts a 6.51 inches IPS LCD screen and 720 x 1600 pixels resolution giving it a sharp and clear display. On the upper left is the punch hole front camera with 16 MP, f/2.0, (wide), and LED flash and records video up to 1080p@30fps. Since the front camera has a higher megapixel count, this device is the best for people who love selfies, and also for people doing vlogs these days, since the video recording of it is also great.

Around the frame, we have the power button on the right, while on the left, is the sim tray with dual nano sim slot, a dedicated slot for microSD is also included and the volume rockers are on the left side as well. The 3.5mm headphone jack and speaker grille and a USB-C type port for its charging port are on the bottom.

Performance and Battery

android 1Now onto its performance, the Oppo A54 is powered by a Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 processor, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As for the software, it runs on Android 10.0 with ColorOS 7.2 on top.

Oppo A54 has a Li-Po 5000 mAh power battery which is paired with an 18w fast charge. Juicing up the 5000mah power battery took around 2 hours and 30 minutes which is not bad for its price.

screen 1This device will save you enough amount of battery power, since it only has an HD+ display, so it won’t consume much power due to its lower PPI density. And when it comes to its gaming capability, since it is not really made to be a gaming phone, playing games at a low graphic mode should already work for you so that you can have a good gaming experience without any interference. Testing it from 100% battery and then playing mobile games for 2 hours and 30 minutes, our battery only dropped at 85 percent, which is pretty good already in my opinion.

Verdict

verdict 1Overall, for the price of P9,499, with the camera features that it has and good battery life, its price is already pretty decent in my opinion. The Oppo A54 is a great budget phone that has a 16mp front camera that is best for people who love posting photos on social media and people who love to document their daily lives through video recording, this device will give them a 1080@30fps resolution. So if you are on the lookout for smartphones with amazing camera resolution without a hefty price tag, the Oppo A54 is the one for you.

  1. There is a new version Oppo is selling with 6gb ram, P9999.00. For a helio p35 device, even if it has 6gb ram and 128gb storage, that price is steep. You can buy a device with a more powerful chipset, which will eventually give you better performance, better photos and gaming experience overall. Also the P35 is not new, it was released in late 2018. So you are paying 10k for a device that has an old chipset.
